Quamquam vero nondum ullam responsionem a Tua benevolentia recepi, nolui tamen, utens hac occasione, promisso meo deesse, sed potius eo me solvo, mittens nonnullos lapides, quos Tibi gratos fore suspicor. upSUMMARY

Friedrich Christian Lesser received Linnaeusís letter dated 26 November 1736 n.s. on 3 January this year. He opened it with great delight, but was very disappointed when he had not got Linnaeusís Systema naturae which he had waited for since Linnaeus had written that he had sent it in June. In order to be informed Lesser at once had answered on 4 January, and asked Linnaeus on what occasion he had sent his Systema. Though he has not yet got an answer he will take the opportunity, not failing to keep his promise, to pass on some stones, which he guesses will be appreciated by Linnaeus. He also once again asks to whom Linnaeus had entrusted to send the Systema.

If Linnaeus has got duplicates of some sea-shells or exotic seeds Lesser would be most grateful if Linnaeus could send them to him using the enclosed casket.

After Easter Lesserís Insectotheologia will be printed in Hamburg or in Leipzig. As soon as it is ready Linnaeus will get a copy.

Lesser is anxious to know if the third part of Albert Sebaís Thesaurus has been published, and asks Linnaeus to inform him what has been done so far.

When Lesser writes this he is suffering from a painful gout. In a few weeks Lesser will send another casket full of different minerals.
