upSUMMARY

Franciscus Ernst Brückmann is convinced that Linnaeus has received the letter dated 18 September. The continuation of Brückmann’s Epistolae itinerariae, sixty of which has been published, is now being printed. He will send it to Linnaeus about Ascension Day. For the moment he wants Linnaeus to accept this small gift, the new edition of Oryctographia Goslariensis.

Brückmann would like to have a copy of Linnaeus’s, Bibliotheca botanica, much praised in the Acta eruditorum. He has not been able to find it in the bookshops, and he himself, since more than twenty years, has been collecting thousands of works on matters belonging to the vegetable kingdom. Of course also Linnaeus’s other eminent works will be welcome.

Brückmann supposes that Linnaeus is familiar with the method of putting plants, with leaves and flowers etc., on a paper, by hand, not a machine, with black colour from soot and linseed oil. If not, Brückmann will have it described to him.

Linnaeus can send his answer with the things Brückmann has asked for to their common friend Johan Frederik Gronovius. If he has some left over Brückmann wants him to send the fruits etc., which Brückmann asked for in the previous letter.
