politician and patron of science and
art. He supported Swedish artists and
scientists and collected art, books and
natural history objects. He assisted
Linnaeusís career in many ways. Married
to Lovisa Ulrica Tessin. Uncle to
Fredrik Sparre. Correspondent of
Linnaeus.
has received Linnaeusís polite letter dated 22 April [Linnaeus to Tessin, 22 April 1740Letter L0382]. Actually Tessin should be grateful to Linnaeus who had accepted the poor habitation in Tessinís house.

Linnaeus, being a great name, should not need an intermediary, but Tessinís taste and judgement makes him send the letter from Carl GyllenborgGyllenborg, Carl (1679-1746).
