Botanico Egregio
S[alutem]
C[arolus] Linnaeus.

Quo diutius Tuas, Vir Colende, exspecto litteras, eo vehementius has desidero. Utinam modo valeres, qui laboriosissimam omnium vitam agis!

Reperi apud nos Sedi specimen nimis vulgarem, ubique in rupibus, petris et montibus obviam, et vulgatissimo acri similem facie et floribus, a quo differt.

1. Quod annua sit et fere minor reliquis.

2. Quod erecta, non procumbens, nec multum ramosa.

3. Quod folia maculis inaequalibus rubescentibus adspersa sint.

Stamina decem, flos luteus pentapetalus. Quaenam haec apud authores? An ista Raj. Syn. tab. 12. f. 2?

An Sedum minimum luteum non acre Jo[hannis] Bauh[ini]? Non reperio authorem, qui vere distinxit.

Ubinam habitat D[ominus] Staehelinus? Ubi Emanuel Bauhinus? An Botanicus? Quo die obiit D[omi]nus Ammanus?[a][a] : MS.1 Ubinam … Ammanus [added in

Linnaeus describes a less common specimen of Sedum, which grows on cliffs etc.

Linnaeus discusses other specimens of Sedum, for example, Sedum minimum luteum.

Linnaeus would like to know where Stahelin [Benedikt StähelinStähelin, Benedikt

Linnaeus discusses a number of plants, i.e. Saporia, Samphytum petraeum, Polygonum maius erectum angustifolium, Lychnide alpina linifolia multiflora, Helleborus fumariae foliis, Aquilegia folis thalictri flosculis minutissimis albis, Androsace coronopi foliis glabra, Delphinum perenne aconiti folio ampliori, etc.

Linnaeus would like to receive seeds from, for example, Haller’s travels in Switzerland and Germany. A long list follows of plants from which Linnaeus would like to receive seeds.

Haller already possesses a list of the plants of Uppsala; it is written by Olof CelsiusCelsius, Olof (1670-1756).
Swedish. Orientalist and theologian,
professor at Uppsala. Botanist and plant
collector, benefactor of Linnaeus.
Correspondent of Linnaeus.

In his garden, Linnaeus has introduced more than 200 plants that grow spontaneously in Sweden.

A disciple of medicine is taught botany by Linnaeus. In the near future Linnaeus will send him at his own expense to the Alps of Lapland to collect plants. This year Linnaeus has sent the same student to Norway to improve his skills.
