Hisce literis tuam expostulo benevolentiam pro D[omino] Cleberg, qui nuperrime nuntium accepit de fato functo litterarum Graecarum Professore in Regia Upsaliensi universitate. Munus hoc adimplere cupit, paratus redire in patriam, tuum praecipue ambit suffragium, cum tibi sit notissimus. Quapropter exoro te, ut dignissimo viro servire velis; officia quaecumque erga illum praestaveris in me lubenter recipiam, semperque tanti beneficii memorem me habebis. Fac igitur, ut inter hos, qui regiae majestati offeruntur, unus numeretur. Cum nostras linquet terras, fasciculum deferet tibi selectorum seminum, grati pectoris tesseram.

Vale, vir optime, et me eodem persequi studio ne desinas!

writes to Linnaeus to ask him for his services for Carl Abraham ClewbergClewberg, Carl Abraham
(1712-1765). Swedish. Professor of
Oriental languages at Åbo. Brother
of Christopher Clewberg.
. Clewberg had just heard that the position of professor in Greek at Uppsala University had become vacant, and he wants that position. Clewberg is ready to return to Sweden, and since Linnaeus knows him, he is very eager to get Linnaeus’s help.

Accordingly, Jussieu asks Linnaeus to ensure that Clewberg’s name is among those brought forward to the king [Fredrik IFredrik I, (1676-1751).
