Dated 1748 d. 9 septemb.. Sent from Uppsala (Sweden) to (). Written in Swedish.

upSUMMARY

[Linnaeus is writing a testimonial concerning Jonas HollstenHollsten, Jonas (1717-1789).
Swedish. Schoolmaster, dean, botanist.
Linnaeusís student. Correspondent of
Linnaeus.
].

Jonas Hollsten has requested Linnaeusís testimony that, here at the Uppsala University, in addition to studying other sciences, he has also studied natural history as a result of his intention to make an application to the Royal Lapp Directorate concerning the successful completion of his studies.

Linnaeus therefore submit the true testimony that this Hollsten has been (together with Avelin) the only one among all Studiosos Lapponicos that has made remarkable advances in natural history. Hollsten has attended for two years Linnaeusís lectures in mineralogy, botany etc. with great attention, and he has no doubt that this student, in addition to his public service, will find in the extensive and remarkable Lapp countryside much that can reward the scientific world with pleasure and give benefit to his country. Linnaeus therefore finds it his duty to recommend Hollsten as eminently suited to be considered by all superiors.
