Kongl[ige] Wettenskaps Societeten här i Upsala har warit angelägen at förskaffa sig en wärdig Ledamot, som kunne biträda Kongl[ige] Societeten at tiena det allmänna med nyttige Rön.

Wid detta tillfälle har Kongl[ige] W[ettenskaps] Societetens ledamöter med enhälligt wahl funnit sig föranlåtne at kalla H[err] Assessoren, som redan för sin wida erudition giort sig namkunnig, så in- som utom fäderneslandet, och därföre se ingen annor som bättre kunne tiena till Societetens ändamåhl.

Hwarföre äfwen Kongl[ige] W[ettenskaps] Societeten befalt mig såsom des Secreterare at här med invitera och kalla H[öglärde] H[err] Assessoren at wara Ledamot af Societate Regia Scientiarum Upsaliensi.

On this occasion, the members of the Society have unanimously decided to appoint Abraham BäckBäck, Abraham (1713-1795).

, who has already made himself known in Sweden and abroad for his great erudition. It has not found anybody more suited to serving the Society.

The Society has also ordered Linnaeus as its secretary to invite and call Bäck to be a member, which Linnaeus has fulfilled by this letter.
