on an expedition to Persia. When Lerche returned he provided Demidov with seeds from Astrakhan, Gilan, etc. Demidov sends Linnaeus some of the seeds and hopes that he will be pleased. There are thirty-three sorts. Demidov has written down the names as they have been communicated to him by Lerche. Demidov does not know whether they will grow. According to Lerche some had been collected two years previously and others one year ago.
