Min Kiäreste Broder.

Det war hedersamt af Min K[iäre] Broder, som lade sig ut för den wärdiga Profess[or] Gmelin; jag skall giöra Min Broders rätmätiga character hos honom.

Nog ser jag at penningar blifwa gifte; jag önskar lycka at de må populera sig i werlden.

jag har i dag sedt Historia animalium, men i det arket war author oskyldig för plagium; jag har icke et enda ord at påminna.

Studenter, skulds utfodringar; örfilar, slagsmål, Frisendorfar, Norrelii sterbhus, berättelser om LifMedicos, Bibliothecarier, Celsier, Prästmöte, Marknad, orationer, Programer, barnsöhlvisiter ageras wid wåra comoedier; at wij gapa bort detta och förgiätom det angelägnare; så spelar werlden sin Roll, och wij saknom ej tiden förr än hon är sin wäg.

Nu sedan Historia animalium förswan utur min caprise skall jag straxt skrifwa modigt, det jag icke giort för uht.

Wallerius har tänkt desse Dagar resa till stockholm och taga Klein med sig sielf

and chemist. At the initiative of
empress Anna of Russia he spent ten
years (1733-1743) exploring Siberia. In
1749 he became professor of botany and
chemistry at Tübingen. Together
with his nephew Samuel Gottlieb he wrote
Flora Sibirica (1747-1769).

Linnaeus knows that money facilitates marriage, so he hopes money will be more abundant in the world.

Linnaeus has seen the first sheet of Historia animalium [Linnaeus refers to the publishing of Magnus Orrelius’sOrrelius, Magnus (1717-1794).

], librarians, Norrelius is dead, the Celsius family, synods, orations, programmes [Linnaeus published altogether six programmes when he was at his office as vice-chancellor], visits to newborn babies [Louisa Linnea was born at Christmas Eve December 1749] and similar things all take time from more important things, and you do not know how little you have done before your time is out.

Linnaeus will write more openly again, now that the problems around Historia animalium are out of the way.
