Dated 2 Novembr. 1750. Sent from Uppsala (Sweden) to Stockholm (Sweden). Written in Swedish.

Linnaeus has got a request from Johan Gustaf WahlbomWahlbom, Johan Gustaf
(1724-1808). Swedish. Physician and
naturalist. Studied at Uppsala under
Linnaeus, anatomy, surgery and
obstretics at Wittenberg. Provincial
physician at Kalmar. Correspondent of
[this letter has not come down to us] for a statement about his studies of natural history at the University of Uppsala, to be used in support of an application.

Linnaeus has been unable to refuse this, especially as Wahlbom has always been one of his most diligent pupils. Wahlbom has disputed publicly twice under Linnaeusís presidency, better than almost all who have done so under Linnaeus, and he has also passed two examinations in medicine with such result that it is justified to count him as one of the best students of medicine since Linnaeus came to the University.

Wahlbom has also been Linnaeusís pupil in mineralogy, botany and zoology, and he has been so industrious in these parts that he must be very well suited to teach these subjects at a secondary school, to the great benefit of the young people who are being trained for public service.

Linnaeus recommends one of his best pupils in every way that an honest teacher can recommend a worthy pupil.
