Dated 11 Nov. 1752. Sent from Göteborg (Sweden) to (). Written in Swedish.

upSUMMARY

Pehr OsbeckOsbeck, Pehr (1723-1805).
Swedish. Clergyman, botanist explorer.
Studied at Uppsala under Linnaeus
1745-1750. Chaplain on ships of the
Swedish East India Company on voyages to
China. Vicar of Hasslöv (Halland).
Correspondent of Linnaeus.
sends Linnaeus some information about several plants.

Osbeck corrects himself. In his previous letter, he had called Melastoma a plant, but it is really a small evergreen shrub.

An Urena that had been sent to Linnaeus must have been confused with another species, since it is not procumbent but upright.

Osbeck lists several plants with brief comments or citations, divided into classes: Decandria, Icosandria, Polyandria and Didynamia. The last contains a full description of a small shrub that Osbeck has taken to be an Erinus.
