Dated 1755 d. 14 octobr.. Sent from Uppsala (Sweden) to Kalmar (Sweden). Written in Swedish.

upSUMMARY

Linnaeus thanks Johan Gustaf WahlbomWahlbom, Johan Gustaf
(1724-1808). Swedish. Physician and
naturalist. Studied at Uppsala under
Linnaeus, anatomy, surgery and
obstretics at Wittenberg. Provincial
physician at Kalmar. Correspondent of
Linnaeus.
for two things, his letter[this letter has not come down to us] and the living specimen of the Cissus that Linnaeus had longed for so much. The plant was alive, and Linnaeus hopes it will recover in the greenhouse. If Wahlbom wants seeds of a plant that Linnaeus has in his gardens, Wahlbom should let Linnaeus know, and Linnaeus will be very glad to meet his demands.

The Frenchmen are showing what electricity does in the nerves, about the same thing as the natural living spirits.

As soon as possible, Linnaeus will make a call on Miss Beronia [Elisabeth Christina WahlbomWahlbom, Elisabeth Christina
(1736-18141). Swedish. Wife of Johan
Gustaf Wahlbom. Daughter of Magnus
Beronius, whose wife and children in
1760 were ennobled Björnstjerna.
], Wahlbom’s fiancée, and show her the respect Linnaeus has for Wahlbom.

Linnaeus forwards greetings from his wife [Sara Elisabet MoraeaMoraea, Sara Elisabet
(1716-1806). Swedish. Linnaeus’s wife.
Daughter of Johan Moraeus and Elisabet
Hansdotter Moraea. Mother of Carl
Linnaeus the Younger and of Elisabeth
Christina, Louisa, Sara Christina and
Sophia Linnaea.
