jag war nu i förrgårs hos Archipater och resonerade med honom om inaugurationen. Han trodde att de kunne låta sig giöra äfter hälgen; men jag är in pectore Thomas och fäller mig så före som Gubben torde blifwa sämbre alt närmare mot wåren; så at kanske ingen inauguration blifwer af. Då borde M[in] Br[oder] giöra som Biskop Lundius, som blef af Steuchen anmodad at inkomma at emottaga pallium; men swarade att han fått Episcopatum af öfwerheten och woro ändoch Biskop; altså aldrig giorde sig det beswäret. Emedlertid skall jag låta M[in] K[iäre] Br[oder] wetta huru det liknar sig.

promoted science. A new chair in
chemistry, a laboratory, a botanical
garden were founded at his initiative. A
close friend of Linnaeus. Husband of
Ulrica Mennander and Johanna Magdalena
Mennander. Father of Carl Fredric
Fredenheim. Correspondent of Linnaeus.
to tell him that he has met with the archbishop [Henric BenzeliuzBenzelius, Henric (1689-1758).

] regarding Mennander’s inauguration. Linnaeus writes that the archbishop thinks that the inauguration might take place after the holidays. Linnaeus says that as the archbishop is old and ill there might not be any inauguration. Linnaeus advises Mennander to follow the example of Daniel LundiusLundius, Daniel (1666-1747).
