application for a position as physician at the orphanage, and hoped that not only Linnaeus was aware of Bergiusís skills, but also the authorities. Linnaeus further reflects on the difficulties for poor people to get adequate medical treatment at reasonable cost. To obtain the know-how and to get the necessary medication, a public hospital with a physician familiar with clinical practice, and with a satisfactory knowledge of botany, is needed. Should Bergius get the appointment, it would indeed be a big step to increase the medical knowledge in our country, and at the same time supply the common people with proper medical care. Linnaeus wants to be kept informed.
