Till Hennes K[ongliga] M[ajeste]t fördristade jag mig för inemot 2 månader sedan, under couvert till Hennes M[ajeste]t sielf, aflämna ett underdånigt memorial, om D[octor] Hallmans arcanum att bewara insecter ifrån mahl, hwilket bestod uti spansk- gröna kokt med olia, at där med öfwerstryka låderne innan till. jag må icke förmoda annat, än brefwet framkommit; giör underdån[ig] förfrågan, om det framkommit? jag menar att det samma, må wara det H[enne]s K[ongliga] Majestet genom min K[iäre] Broder befaller;

jag må ej tro, att någon fördristat borttaga brefwet. D[octo]r Hallmans original öfwersändes. är det icke framkommit måste D[octo]r Hallman kunna gifwa methoden å nyo. han bor i Stockholm

to investigate if the letter had arrived at the Queen.

Linnaeus does not think that the letter can have been stolen. It was Hallman’s original copy that was sent, and if it is lost, Hallman will have to make a new one. That is easy, however, since Hallman lives in Stockholm.
