Linnaeus. [this letter has not come down to us] sent Linnaeus the illustrations that have been published in The Gardeners dictionary, 7th editionMiller, Philip The Gardeners
dictionary; containing the methods of
cultivating and improving the kitchen,
fruit and flower garden, etc., 7th
edition (London 1756-1759). . Since he has received no letter from Linnaeus, he fears they might be lost.
Together with the present letter Linnaeus will receive some bulbs and illustrations of plants engraved by Johann Jacob DilleniusDillenius, Johann Jacob
(1684-1747). German/British. Studied at
Giessen. Sherardian professor of botany
at Oxford. Correspondent of Linnaeus. but not yet published.
Miller entreats Linnaeus to send him the works that he has not yet received [see Miller to Linnaeus 20 October 1757Letter L2252 and below P.S.].
Miller will soon send Linnaeus the rest of his illustrations, The Gardeners dictionary, and many dried specimens and seeds. He entreats Linnaeus to send him some seeds from the Uppsala University Botanical Garden, the Peloria and other novelties.
