Dated 17 1/15 59. Sent from Amsterdam (Netherlands) to (). Written in Latin.

Nobilissimo et Celeberrimo Viro,
Carolo Linnaeo Equiti,
Professori Clarissimo et Doctissimo,
S[alutem] P[lurimam] D[icit]
N[icolaus] L[aurentius] Burmannus.

En impetrata a TE venia, aegre ne feras, me illas hisce includere.

Vale!

Amstelaedami 15/1. 1759.

upSUMMARY

Nicolaas Laurens BurmanBurman, Nicolaas Laurens
(1734-1793). Dutch. Professor of
botany. Linnaeus’s pupil in Uppsala in
1760. Correspondent of Linnaeus.
has often learned from Linnaeus’s letters about the kindness he has shown to Burman’s father Johannes BurmanBurman, Johannes (1707-1779).
Dutch. Botanist, professor of medicine
in Amsterdam. Close friend of Linnaeus.
Correspondent of Linnaeus.
. Now Linnaeus has offered to examine the names and descriptions of Burman’s species of Geranium. Burman will be most grateful since he will soon be sending the material to the printers when he takes his doctor’s degree [Burman refers to his thesis, Specimen botanicum de geraniisBurman, Nicolaas Laurens
Specimen botanicum de geraniis
(Leiden 1759).
