Rönet om fiskarne har jag giönomläsit, som är rätt wackert, men jag önskade wetta det åberopade om fiskarnes ålder, och huru man kan se på en fisk huru gamal han är.

En capitaine ifrån China gaf in förleden ett rön om chinesiska oliofröet, utan att kunna säga af hwad ört det togs. Örten är nu upwuxen och är intet annat än wåre ordinaire Rättiker, men en varietet där af radice tenui annua, men aldeles samma Species med de allmänne Rättiker.

De Gorter heter David och är lifMedicus hos Kajserinnan i Ryssland, bor i Petersburg, har utgifwit Floram Geldro-Zutphanicam.

At få hampa äller lin af hwita Meliloten tyckes gå an; jag har det aldrig hört äller sedt tillförene

Rönet om fiskarne har jag lämnat till Prof[essor] Berch,

A captain who had returned from China [Linnaeus means Carl Gustaf EkebergEkeberg, Carl Gustaf

] presented recently an observation on the Chinese oil seed, but he did not know from which plant it had been taken [Ekebergís observation was published in 1764, "Berättelse om chinesiska olje-fröet"Ekeberg, Carl Gustaf

]. The plant is the Swedish black radish; a variant of radice tenui annua.

It seems possible to get hemp or flax from the white Melilotus [Linnaeus refers to an observation made by Axel Fredrik CronstedtCronstedt, Axel Fredrik

The observation on fish has been sent to Anders BerchBerch, Anders (1711-1774).

P. S. Last year Linnaeus had made a request to set up a commission for sending trees to Russia [see Linnaeus to Wargentin, 15 January 1761Letter L2859]. Wargentin had promised to speak to Engelbert GotherGother, Engelbert (1708-1775).
