Med lurendrägaren Bathia som afreser i desa dagar ifrån Rouen til Stockholm öfwersänder jag Herr Archiatern den bok som han igenom dess högtährade skrifwelse af d[en]:8 Aug[usti] synts åstunda. Herr Archiatern behagade derföre wid ankomsten utfordra densamma, och har det warit mig ganska kärt at kunna lemna ett litet wedermäle af den oföränderliga tilgifwenhet hwarmed jag alt framgent har den ähran at wara

is sending Linnaeus the book that Linnaeus asked for in his letter of August 8 [this letter has not come down to us] by [presumably the ship Bathia], which is leaving Rouen for Stockholm on one of the next few days, Scheffer asks Linnaeus to claim the book when the ship arrives. Scheffer assures Linnaeus that he has been glad to help in this matter.
