chemistry, a laboratory, a botanical
garden were founded at his initiative. A
close friend of Linnaeus. Husband of
Ulrica Mennander and Johanna Magdalena
Mennander. Father of Carl Fredric
Fredenheim. Correspondent of Linnaeus.
writes to Linnaeus to tell him about the successful outcome of Linnaeus’s plea presented to the Sekreta UtskottetSekreta Utskottet, Swedish.
Committee of the Swedish parliament,
where foreign policy was discussed.
. [The plea was that Linnaeus should be given the privilege of choosing his own successor]. Mennander has received a letter from Linnaeus [Linnaeus to Mennander, 18 June 1762Letter L3089], where Linnaeus says he is happy and content with the outcome and Mennander replies that he is glad he has been able to contribute to the pleasure of and old friend.

Mennander writes that he will not be able to say goodbye in person, as he will leave in the end of the week, but sends his best regards to Linnaeus and his family.

Mennander thanks Linnaeus for the promise of sending the peacocks and the minerals.
