Dated Idibus junii 1764. Sent from Zierikzee (Netherlands) to Uppsala (Sweden). Written in Latin.

upSUMMARY

Job BasterBaster, Job (1711-1775).
Dutch. Naturalist, doctor of medicine,
Leiden. Correspondent of Linnaeus.
thanks Linnaeus for two letters [these letters have not come down to us] that he has received in good order. He is also pleased that the species of molluscs that he had sent to Linnaeus had been welcome.

For domestic reasons and some bad health, Baster was unable to observe the Salicornia last year. Now, he is determined to do so, especially as he is eager to include that information in his sixth fascicle of short works [Baster refers to the sixth fascicle of the Opuscula subsecivaBaster, Job Opuscula
subseciva, observationes miscellaneas de
animalculis et plantis quibusdam
marinis, eorumque ovariis et seminibus
continentia
, 2 vol. (Haarlem,
1759-1765).
]. That fascicle will be dedicated to Linnaeus. The plates are being cut, and Baster sends Linnaeus prints of those that are ready. Baster hopes to be able to send Linnaeus a copy of the finished fascicle with hand-coloured plates before the end of the year.
