very much for the letter of 3 September 1767 [Linnaeus means 2 SeptemberLetter L5345]. He had not heard from Vandelli for a long time, so he was afraid that Vandelli had been taken ill.

Linnaeus asks Vandelli to observe the flowers of Adiantum trichomanes Canariensis with a microscope and see what can be learnt on the structure of flowers from them.

Linnaeus praises Angeja, who is the first to promote the study of natural history in Portugal.

Linnaeus advises Vandelli not to omit having a nice plate of the rare Sibthorpia in his work [Linnaeus refers to Vandellis work with the Florae lusitanicae et brasiliensis specimenVandelli, Domenico Florae

]. Nor should he forget to draw the flowers with the help of a microscope.
