that the beautiful animal, Mus aguti [guldhare in Swedish, golden hare in English] which Bedoire had given to Linnaeus and his wife [Sara Elisabet LinnaeaMoraea, Sara Elisabet
(1716-1806). Swedish. Linnaeus’s wife.

], had suddenly died. With exception of his children, nothing living had been closer to his heart than the Aguti [guldhare in Swedish].
