Denna observationen fick jag från Martin, men wiste ej annat än att hon skulle höra till Upsala acter.

nu har riket och wåra wettenskaper mistat 2ne Stellas prima magnitudinis på ett åhr, Brandt och Swab. jag will ej tala om, gossarne Schaefer och Cronstedt, som doch woro flitige. Bergs collegium och bergwerk hafwa mistat stolparne för sin wettenskap. sådane män wäxa ej som swampar. Europa har så mycket jag wet ej deras likar, quidquid ad summum pervenit ad exitum properat. En Kung kan mista en arme, men innan ett år hafwa en annor lika god. En Kung kan mista en flotta, och innan 2 åhr hafwa en annor uptaklat; men en Brandt och Swab ej få igen på hela sin regering.

Du Hamel säger sig sändt de arken som för mig fattades af Paris[is]ke acterne om de höras af, kiäre säg mig till.

. Europe does not have their equal. A King can loose an army, but get a new one within a year. He can loose a fleet and in two years have another, but not have a new Brandt or Swab during his whole reign.
