upSUMMARY

May God give Linnaeus many pleasant moments and happy days during this year and those to come, writes Anders Johan von HöpkenHöpken, Anders Johan von
(1712-1789). Swedish. Count and
statesman. One of the founders of the
Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences.The
Chancellor of the Uppsala University
1760-1764. Correspondent of Linnaeus.
. Linnaeus letter of 1 January 1769 [this letter has not come down to us] had arrived and, as usual, Höpken is delighted to have received it. Höpken longs for Uppsala, not the town of Uppsala itself but for the opportunity to converse with Linnaeus and to benefit from the resulting edification which, for Höpken was so much more important than the movements in the world around him.

If Linnaeus will find moments of leisure, Höpken wants to hear news from him and from the learned world.
