Dated 24 Decembris An: 1771. Sent from Bologna (Italia) to Uppsala (Sweden). Written in Latin.

upSUMMARY

Ferdinando BassiBassi, Ferdinando
(c.1710-1774). Italian. Director of the
botanical garden of Bologna.
Correspondent of Linnaeus.
has been very ill after a stroke and has recently recovered. He writes to thank Linnaeus for the honour of getting a species named after him, an apotheosis that he feels he is not worthy of.

The letter also contains mature and fresh seeds of three species; one of them is an Achirantes that Bassi has not found in any of Linnaeusís works.

Bassi can send Linnaeus flowers of Crassula portulacaria, but he cannot send seeds since he has never seen any.
