Dated . Sent from () to (). Written in Swedish.

upSUMMARY

Linnaeus thanks Abraham BäckBäck, Abraham (1713-1795).
Swedish. Physician, president of the
Collegium Medicum, Stockholm. Close
friend of Linnaeus. Correspondent of
Linnaeus.
for the taffeta that he had received. It arrived just in time. Linnaeus wants to know how much he owes Bäck, for he wants to settle his debts.

Anders Jahan RetziusRetzius, Anders Jahan
(1742-1821). Swedish. Botanist and
zoologist. Professor of natural history
at Lund. Correspondent of Linnaeus.
had not been present at the promotion. Linnaeus is surprised that he had behaved so badly towards Bäck, who had made him so much good. That is why Linnaeus does not want to have anything to do with Retzius.

Johan LindwallLindwall, Johan (1743-1796).
Swedish. Physician and botanist. Student
at Åbo under Pehr Adrian Gadd and
Pehr Kalm and at Uppsala under Linnaeus.
Provincial physician of the province of
Blekinge. Correspondent of Linnaeus.
is glad to be with Bäck until next autumn, when he will go abroad. Linnaeus cannot recommend Sven Anders HedinHedin, Sven Anders (1750-1821).
Swedish. Linnaeus´s student.
Provinical physician in Svartsjö
and Drottningholm.
, since his former employer, Daniel AnnerstedtAnnerstedt, Daniel (1721-1771).
Swedish. Professor of theology,
Uppsala.
has infected him with phthisis.

Linnaeus has talked to Daniel Henrik SöderbergSöderberg, Daniel Henrik
(1750-1781). Swedish. Physician at
Eskilstuna. Student of Linnaeus. Tutor
to Carl Abraham Bäck.
and told him more frank truths than anyone else has told him. Bäck has been kinder to Söderberg than he is worth. Linnaeus will never recommend him again. Linnaeus also thinks that everybody seems prone to slandering those who have shown them the greatest favours.

The clock just struck seven, so Linnaeus has to finish.
