Dated Postridie Idibus Iunii An: 1773. Sent from Bologna (Italia) to (). Written in Latin.

upSUMMARY

Ferdinando BassiBassi, Ferdinando
(c.1710-1774). Italian. Director of the
botanical garden of Bologna.
Correspondent of Linnaeus.
mentions that he sent Linnaeus flowers of Crassula portulacaria in the year before but that he has not received confirmation from Linnaeus that they really arrived. He repeats his observations from the previous letter [Bassi to Linnaeus, 15 May 1772Letter L4779] on the number of pistils, which makes the definition doubtful. Bassi also reminds Linnaeus that he had sent him specimens of two species of Psoralea several years earlier but that he has had no comments from Linnaeus on those either.

Bassi lives a pleasant life and cultivates his garden, but he is forbidden to do heavier work or to makejourneys into the Alps, since his health has been bad at times.
