Dated 15 Sept: 1774. Sent from Lund (Sweden) to Uppsala (Sweden). Written in Swedish.

Wälborne Herr Archiater och Riddare af
Kongl[ig] Maijts Nordstjerne orden

Herr Archiatern lärer utan twifwel redan sedt Schrebers Plantarum verticillatarum unilabiatarum Genera & species.

Han berättar mig at Prof[essor] Friis will taga avsked.

And[ers] Jah[an] Retzius

Lund d[en] 15 Sept[ember] 1774.

Herr Vahl berättar äfwen at Spengler torde continuera Regenfuses arbete.

]. He also points out a couple of errors made by the editor, i.e. that the names of Cÿnoglossum linifolium and lusitanicum are mixed up, and that the characteristics of Rumex persicarioiodes and dentatus are too alike.

He writes that next year he will observe Lunariae very closely.

He says that Celsia coromandeliana cannot be anything but Arcturus The colour of Barbae might be a variety. He also writes that he will be pleased to send Linnaeus seeds of the above mention plants as well as seeds of Conyza Anthelminthica that he thinks is close to Serratulae.

He writes that an Asperifolia is flowering but he cannot tell the gender until he can see the seeds and describes an Anchusae.

He assumes that Linnaeus has already seen Johann Christian Daniel von Schreber’s Plantarum Verticillatarum Unilabiatarum genera et speciesSchreber, Johann Christian Daniel von
