1760-1764. Correspondent of Linnaeus.
that Linnaeus is satisfied with his negligible services and does not believe that he had fulfilled his duty towards a man who had honoured sceince, his country and the Swedish name. Apart from Isaac Newton, Höpken knows of no other than Linnaeus who had enjoyed such universal praise. Höpken wishes with all his heart that Linnaeus has many more years to live to the benefit of mankind, the widening of science, and to experience the rarest thing in the world, namely gratefulness.
