Dated IX Calendas Julii 1776. Sent from St Petersburg (Russia) to Uppsala (Sweden). Written in Latin.

upSUMMARY

Frédéric AllamandAllamand,
Frédéric-Louis

(1736-1803). Swiss. Botanist, doctor of
medicine. Correspondent of Linnaeus.
makes an excuse for not having written to Linnaeus for five years, and offers his apologies for taking the liberty of writing again. But a friend of his, by the name of Jacques François MuretMuret, Jacques François
(1746-). Swiss.
, is about to leave for Sweden and had wanted an introductory letter to Linnaeus. Allamand takes the opportunity to send to Linnaeus several specimens of Surinamese plants that he had considered as new or dubious. He admits that he has used the specimens for examinations several times, or as models for drawings, so that they may be incomplete and far from perfect for a herbarium. Nevertheless, he offers them to Linnaeus as they are.
