thanks Linnaeus for the letter of 2 January 1759 [this letter has not come down to us], the day before Ehrensvärd joined the Royal Life Guards. Linnaeusís horseman had died a couple of days previously and consequently Ehrensvärd returns Hammarís, Swedish. letter to Linnaeus.

Ehrensvärd thanks Linnaeus for his good wishes and returns the compliment by wishing Linnaeus good health and strength for many years to the advantage of the general public and embellishment of the country.

Ehrensvärd again thanks Linnaeus for being so kind in favouring his garden in Finland, that nonetheless is not his but his underage soldier childrenís almost only source of food and education. He considers that Linnaeus, his old friend, is worthy of paradise.

Ehrensvärdís commissionaire is Jacob GerdesGerdes, Jacob Swedish.

of the artillery in Finland and who is also Ehrensvärdís and his soldiers best friend. If Gerdes is given a task he will do everything in his power to accomplish it.
