Högwälborne Herr Grefwe, Kongl[ige] Maj:ts och Sweriges Rikes Råd, President i Kongl[iga] LagCommission, Academie Canceller, samt Riddare och Commendear af Kongl[ige] Maj:ts Orden.

I anledning af Eders HögGrefl[ige] Excellences aflåtna höggunstiga skrifwelse och befallning af d[en] 29 Novemb[e]r sistledne, har jag widare låtit mig angeläget wara, at i mögeligaste måtto upspörja och indraga de Exemplar af en utkommen skrifft: Borgerliga Friheten kallad, hwilka så wäl ännu kunde finnas i behåll hos Auctoren, Professoren Forsskål, som de hwilka här i Staden blifwit kringspridde; til följe hwaraf jag i all djup ödmjukhet, jemte min alraödmjukaste af d[en] 30 Novemb[e]r sändt Eders HögGrefl[ige] Excellence 13 Exemplar deraf tilhanda. Sedermera hafwa genom all oförtruten effterfrågan 52 Exemplar än ytterligare af mig blifwit insamlade, hwilka härjemte i lika ödmjukhet öfwersändas.

Eders HögGrefl[ige], Excellences. berörde höggunstiga skrifwelse, at med mögeligaste försigtighet indraga de kringspridde Exemplaren, har jag å ena sidan sökt ställa mig til nogaste effterfölgd, men å den andra saknat den wärckan, som någon alfwarsammare min Embetes åtgärd kunnat å stad komma, hwarföre til Eders HögGrefl[ige] Excellences höggunstiga wälbehag jag ej underlåta bordt at hemställa, antingen jag bör låta bero wid de Exemplar, som redan i godo på skedd erhindran til mig blifwit inlämnade, och än ytterligare aflämnas kunna, eller bruka någon krafftigare utwäg, der skälig anledning gifwes, på det de som mottagit Exemplar rnåga påläggas at wisa til hwilka de i orterna sändt samma papper och tilhållas at skaffa de samma tilbakars, med mera, til ändamålets winnande af den Höggunstiga befallning Eders HögGrefl[ige] Excellence mig i detta mål gifwit.

. Linnaeus had already sent Ehrenpreus 13 copies with his first report on November 30. After further diligent investigation, Linnaeus has now collected 52 more copies and he sends them with this letter.

Since Ehrenpreus had instructed Linnaeus to proceed with great caution, Linnaeus has to report that he has not been able to exercise his full authority as vice chancellor. So, for example, he has refrained from asking Ehrenpreus if he has to ask those who have received copies if, and in that case to whom, they might have forwarded copies. This would have made the withdrawal more complete.

At the end of the letter, Linnaeus gives a list of recipients of in all 52 copies of the work. These are:
