Dickson, James (1738-1822) . Scottish. Nurseryman, plant collector, botanist and mycologist. In 1772 he started his own plant and seed shop in Covent Garden, London. In 1788 he became one of the original members of the Linnean Society, and in 1804 a vice-president of the Horticultural Society.
